Nigeria are as good as through to the next round of the ongoing WAFU B African Cup of Nations Qualifiers after thrashing their counterparts from Cote d’Ivoire 5-1 in their second group game.

The coach Manu Garba led team lost their first game of the tournament which is holding in Niger Republic 2-3 to Burkina Faso but they bounce back in emphatic style in their second game.

As early as the tenth minute of play, the Nigerian team went two goals up courtesy of goals from Olakunle Olusegun and Olatomi Olaniyan before further goals from Hassan Hussain and Akinwunmi Amoo put the game beyond the reach of the Ivorians.

Ivory Coast pulled a goal back via the spot same method Nigeria profited from in scoring their fifth goal of the game in the encounter which was largely one sided as the Golden Eaglet imposed themselves from start to finish.

The win means they are almost assured of in the semi final alongside Burkina Faso who are yet to play Cote d’Ivoire in the last group game before the start of semi -finals.
