A Nigerian Igbo woman has held her traditional marriage with her white groom in Rome, Italy.
The Igbo culture requires that the traditional marriage holds in the bride’s father’s compound in the bride’s hometown. But an Igbo bride held hers in Rome with her white lover and the video has since gone viral.
The Igbo bride and her white groom got married in Rome, Italy, on Sunday, September 9, 2018. It was one colourful ceremony well attended by members of the bride and groom’s respective families.
Though it held in a country far away from Nigeria, all the traditional rites were observed, including the bride kneeling to present a cup of wine to her groom. She also had on a traditional attire and so did her white groom.
Meanwhile, a UK based traditionalist has condemned some Nigerians who give conditions for their traditional weddings and exclude items which are used to represent their culture.
Uba Acho, a hardcore traditionalist who is based in Leicester City, took to his social media page, to speak against those ‘Westernising’ their traditional weddings as he said a pastor would never conduct a church wedding where vital items are not displayed.
The traditionalist also blasted a couple who used orange juice for their traditional wedding instead of Palm wine.
